As the original styling is so popular and dynamic, exterior design changes are fairly minimal and include restyled front and rear bumpers, grille, side sill garnish and rear spoiler. The interior features modifications aimed at bringing out a higher quality feel through the use of new materials and new finishes. The more noteworthy innovations are related to driving dynamics and include new engines and powertrains, and enhanced body rigidity to sharpen response and handling. This strategy of incremental improvements is the same as that adopted for sports models such as the Mazda RX-7 and MX-5. Although the revised model looks similar to its predecessor, the improvements are obvious from the moment you sit in it and zoom away.
